A walk in the dark

Antarctica is a special place. It is remote, often a bit chilly and has a grandeur that is hard to explain or experience. The scale is vast. Above water we move a few km/miles around and it takes the day. Underwater, we venture maybe a 100m from the hole? But mostly more like 20. We have only scratched the surface and we have been working here for more than a century to study just this one spot on the globe. But the vastness surrounds us. Calm and cool weather led to a window to peer into the night. I grabbed a camera and ventured out to experience the vastness in the dark. After more than a year of my life here spread across 24 years, I am still in awe of the beuty.
